Images & Artists
In some of these images you will find a great deal of Photoshop trickery. As an example, famed guitarist Jack Pearson (the Allman Bros. & many more) was removed from one room setting and placed in a new room I cobbled together from unrelated pieces. Upon request I have improved or changed people, landscapes, automobiles, clothing, and color schemes to flatter the subject and improve the message!
Famed jazz/blues guitarist Denny Jiosa was transitioning into a harder edged musical phase. I created this poster to illustrate that change in style. I pulled vertical shooting flames from a live action video to use as design elements in the header logo. Next I blew up a photo of Denny in sunglasses and embedded the flames across his glasses to go Bond ... James Bond. It looks terrific at full scale concert poster size. Denny was surprised by what I conjured up!
I must admit it. I love this one. If the lovely Jennifer were not so pretty, I would say my design choices and special effects were beautiful in their simplicity.
This car was altered to the point where it looks like a different model. I expanded and repositioned parts of the vehicle by cloning and repainting the car body. This gave me more room to add the logo and embed the tag line across the side.
. . . and, repainted the yellow guitar neck and body where the woman's hand was covering it up.
I cut apart the actual pavement stripes from Abbey Road and used them as a design element.
This design was a "complete" surprise for the band. I took them out of their concrete lined promo photo and placed them in a setting that befit their whimsical and eclectic musical world. The background came from a variety of sources. Stonework, foliage, mountains and sky were clone-painted to create content that did no exist in the original source images. The band was excited and quite surprised by the results! Notice the members are no longer in the same order or all facing in the original direction. A little body part repainting had to be done to replace the overlaps as well.
I placed the actual guitar he uses as the image above his head.
I thought this was a clever idea. I took pieces from a retro juke box and used it to list all the information about the concert. I combined Song Titles from the band, and from some classic songs, with info about the Performers, the Show, the Food, and the Location.
D.A.J. quickly shoots the guitar photos and creates the poster. ^
It's a celebration of 30 years of performing, recording & teaching!
One of Nashville's largest neighborhood events.
Glows In The Dark
Digital billboards light up the night sky. The most fun part is the fact that I can use my office computer to control how my images appear on a very distant billboard. I can program it for the times of day, days of the week, and even months in advance. I set what will appear and in what order and frequency. Too cool! These designs are extremely simple and a little awkwardly bold. They need to be because drivers zipping by must read the message in a few brief seconds.
Posters For You & Your Fans:
They are both inexpensive advertising and somewhat priceless mementos. Combine a few posters, a little scotch tape and a handful of thumb tacs, and you can present your message anywhere you are brave enough to hang it. After you have finished promoting your special event, posters make great autographed souvenirs. And,.. the poster can be used as a graphic in your social media and on your website!
