David Andrew Johnson is most likely Nashville's only former double-bass drum playing rock/metal drummer . . .  who turned into an acoustic guitar playing singer-songwriter. Although he resides in Music City, Tennessee, there is a whole lot more rock n' roll in his original songs than country. Dave's musical awakening was filled with early childhood favorites like The Beatles, Jim Croce, Alice Cooper, Queen, Blood Sweat & Tears, Dean Martin, Kiss, Bread, The Temptations, Rush, The Faces, Sabbath, Bing Crosby, Frank Fontaine and so many others. Now those inspirations are an ingrained musical library that sometimes results in Dave's surprising, original compositions. Some are down-right funny, some are deep and questioning, some romantically tender, and some are way out there on a limb flapping around in a wild storm! His performances are a succession of songs where none sound the same, and some might make you say "What the heck was that!"

 Dave plays a few instruments. He started on the drums, got serious about those, and later got smitten with the piano, fell for the guitar hard, and fooled around with the bass guitar when there was time. While he admits that being drawn in many directions limits his abilities on each instrument, he does do a fairly admirable job of making recordings where he plays all the instruments and sings all the lead vocals and background harmonies.

I love to perform at events or parties of any size. If the audience consists of only one person who is interested in listening to original songs, I'll play untill my voice gives out!
